Social networks continue to be the most downloaded applications in the world. Large companies in the sector such as Meta, which controls Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, and ByteDance, which controls TikTok, among other devices, are still in the lead.
Between the two companies, the TikTok app was the most downloaded, reaching the mark of more than 175 million downloads in the Apple and PlayStore stores in the first quarter of 2022 alone.
It is the first time that Meta does not take first place in the ranking. In the first quarter of 2022 alone, TikTok had 3,5 billion downloads, which made the short video app earn $821 million.

Instagram and Facebook had 150 million downloads each, WhatsApp 125 million. Telegram, which occupies fifth place in the ranking, is not controlled by either Meta or ByteDance, is an independent company and has had 100 million downloads.
Next comes Shopee and Snapchat with 100 million each. Messenger already reached the mark of 85 million downloads. CapCut along with Spotify got 80 million each.
App billing
By early 2022, ByteDance is expected to make TikTok approximately $12 billion. However, due to the problems faced as a result of the consequences of the pandemic, the estimate was reduced to US$ 10 billion.

In addition to the categories of most downloaded apps and best games on its platform, Apple also brought the category of cultural impact. The winning apps brought new experiences to users, encouraging them to explore their emotions.
